Baptism is the Sacrament by which we become Christians. It frees us from the effects of Original Sin, makes us children of God and members of God's family, the Church.

In order to be baptised, an adult or older child needs to be catechised in the Christian Faith. Please refer to 'Becoming Catholic'.

Following early Church practice, the Church also baptises the infant children of Christian parents who make an act of faith and commitment on their child's behalf. Parents and sponsors will be asked to renounce Satan and all his works and all his empty promises. Newborn babies should be baptised in the first weeks or as soon as possible.
